Het Zaans Museum is vanaf dinsdag 17 augustus weer geopend. Zondag heeft er een mislukte overval plaatsgevonden in het museum. Er is niemand gewond geraakt en er is niets buit gemaakt. De overvallers hadden het gemunt op ‘De Voorzaan en de Westerhem’ van Claude Monet. We laten het schilderij onderzoeken op mogelijke schade en het zal daarom tijdelijk niet getoond worden. De daders zijn gevlucht. De politie doet onderzoek en zoekt getuigen.

 
Last Sunday morning, there was an attempted robbery at our museum. We are relieved to say that nobody got hurt and that they were unable to steal anything. Nevertheless, we are very shocked by the incident. The robbers attempted to steal our Monet painting, ‘De Voorzaan en de Westerhem’. We are currently investigating if the painting has been damaged due to the incident, meaning we are unable to put it on display at the moment. The robbers were able to get away. The police is currently investigating and is still looking for witnesses of the event.
